December Notables

*Penny has two monster teeth coming in on top.  Seriously, they look huge. (She'll also growl if you ask her if she's a monster.)

*Sophie got straight A's on her first official Middle school report card. Wahoo, go girl!  I told her all she needs to do to get into BYU is do that same thing for every semester all the way through high school.  no pressure, Soph!  At least she's getting off on the right foot.

*Owen just realized that everything is Made In China.

*He also had his holiday program at his new school and it consisted of every grade dancing to songs like 'Groove Thing' and 'La Bamba'.  No christmas or holiday mentioned, no snowflakes or santa or even a menorah!  Although, i'm less offended by that then last year in Encino where they celebrated Hanukkah (including songs about the Macabee's) and Santa.  Totally took Christ out of it. Think...'We wish you a happy holiday, we wish you a happy holiday.'   So, of the two choices, i'd prefer to ignore it at school altogether.

*I think i've made the perfect christmas playlist for our trip up to utah.

It includes all of this:
And none of this:
* Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Weekend Round Up

Ha ha. Remember when I was going to make the Weekend Round up a regular thing? oh well, i'm bringing it back for today's purposes. Which is a really lame way of saying we picked out our tree at the tree lot (oh it smells so good!) and that Owen got to talk to Santa at our Ward Christmas Party.  Penny cried instantly, of course, but Owas super excited and afterward he said,  "Mom, you don't have to get me the Interactive Wall.e any more! He is!" Then he pointed back over his shoulder to where somebody's boyfriend sat dressed a giant fuzzy santa suit and an ill-fitting wig and beard. He is, really? Well, cross that off my list.

Just kidding, that guy was a great Santa and I love that Owen still believes. Sophie was way to young when she found out.

Still need to decorate the tree and do gingerbread and a million other traditions and to-do's before Christmas comes in 17 days. Better get on it.

*Happy December, everyone

more thanksgiving

We had such a blast hosting thanksgiving this year. Mom and Dad came wed afternoon and Kelly and dave got there just about midnight. My mom and I made homemade pies while we were waiting for them to get here and although it took me 3, count em, 3 crusts to get it right, i finally did it. No pics of them, of course, but it was a culinary triumph for me. Something that doesn't happen often so I get to celebrate. penny is going crazy so i'll post pics and write later. Actually, my little sister did a great summary on her blog Thanks, everyone. We miss you already.
