They did it!

In a total nail-biter of a game, the spurs pulled it out. I ended up going to an American Idol party but kept checking in on the score on my cell phone. Way to go spurs! Now it's just two more rounds and championship to go.

It was a crazy night for everybody. This was the state of my house when i left for the party:

Doug and Ross were sitting down and watching the opening jump shot. After an entire day of nervous anticipation it was finally time to for them to watch.

At the same time, i needed to get ready and Penny woke up very hungry and fussy. Sophie and Owen were sitting at the table playing a math game for Sophie's homework and she's asking him, "What is 5 cubed?" He was giving her all kinds of crazy answers which was clearly not helping.

They pause the game and Doug makes Penny a bottle while she wails in his arms and Rossy jumps up to help Sophie with her homework. By the time I'm ready to go, they were all hunched over the table solving math problems, Penny was still squirming and grunting and the TV's screen-saver was bouncing around waiting for someone to come back and push PLAY.

I looked over the scene and decided to tiptoe quietly out of the house without saying goodbye. If i thought about it too long I would have foolishly turned around and said, "Why don't I just take Penny with me." But that defeats the whole purpose of a girls' night, right?

Anyway, Doug and Ross are champs. A big thanks to them for manning the house on such a big night in Spur Basketball.

Happy Spurs Day, Everyone.

Let's hear it for those San Antonio Spurs who are going to boot the Phoenix Suns right out of the First round of the NBA finals tonight. (or at least by game 7)

church pictures

As per Grandma Terrie's request. Pictures of Penny in the dress sophie has been planning for her church debut for about 3 months.

Do you like how we don't take pictures of our other kids anymore?? I'll try and get some up.

Not Possible...

Why does time go by so fast. Here she is, 6 weeks old today.

Are you kidding me?

Who can blog with a new baby?  It's nuts how much time i don't have to spend on this anymore. (not that i was super great at it anyway.) But blogging has landed pretty close to the bottom of the priority list.

We've been having a great time with Jessica and Eli who got snowed out of Calgary when a blizzard hit the city the day they were supposed to go home.  We got an extra 5 days with them. Coo coo ca choo!

Penny went to church this sunday and you all know what that means!  Life is pretty much back to normal.

Has anyone been watching the NBA playoffs?  40 games in 40 nights and the spurs are playing the phoenix s

sophie rocks!- (soph)

Visitors! We love em.

Grandma Chamberlain was here for a week and left yesterday afternoon. We had a grand time sitting on the couch and  holding Penny for 6 straight days. Seriously, that's all we did but we had a good time doing it and Grandma was soooo helpful!  We were sad to see her go.

Next up?  The Burtons!  They couldn't come when Penny was born because they all caught the wicked flu, but now everyone is feeling ship shape and they're coming down from Calgary next week.  Yahoo!

The better news is that they're looking for a house in Clairmont so the next time they come it will be with all of their stuff in a big moving truck.  I get giddy just thinking about it.

Clairmont: the land of trees and PH'ds.   Once hovercrafts are ok'd for highway use we can all move out there and have a house for nearly half the price of the Valley.  Sweet!

A truly great blanket!

My friend Beth introduced me to Spongy Feet.  A great company out of San Fransisco that makes adorable baby blankets, bibs, burp cloths, etc.  She had a really cute one for her little boy and for my baby shower she had me pick out fabric for boy or girl and then she ordered the girly blanket once Penny was born.  This is how it turned out. I love it.  They have really funky fabrics and they are all so cute!  Thanks, Beth!

The Man-Shower

Doug went to Utah for a commercial last week and his family surprised him with a Man-Shower.  If you know his family, you'll know it had to be really, really funny.

They played all of the usual baby shower games but with all the brothers and brothers in law participating instead of the girls.  They had to guess types of baby food, guess how many squares of toilet paper it takes to go around Doug's belly, and then the clothespin game where you try to steal the clothes pins if someone crosses their legs, etc.

And then there were the presents!  He came home with the hugest mound of clothes.  Between the Chamberlains and Jessica in Calgary, we have a years supply of the cutest little girl clothes.

Click here to see all the pics and the sweet details. Scroll down to March 29th.

Thank you, thank you to everyone for the gifts and planning such a great party!  I just wish I could have been there.

Because at some point we have to post something other than close ups of Penny-Pie

Doug found this jewel this morning...

He brought it out saying, "Owen, this is what you're going to look like when you get a little bit older and when we start curling your hair."  (Apparently, Doug thinks Owen and I look alike.)

Owen's response was, "No way.  I am NOT going to look like that.  That is a girl."

And of course, Sophie just cackled at the breakfast table.

I remember taking this picture, I think it was 6th grade. I loved those gold earrings because it looked like I had 3 holes instead of just one.  I also remember loving this shirt and I think I wore it with black stirrup pants and yellow socks.  Oh, was I stylin'.  And then there's the hair.  What do you say about a really curly fem-mullet??  It was the 80's, baby!
