Anybody Catch This?

I think everyone knows that abortion is a big issue for me. Some can look passed it, but i can't. This was more than disappointing.

Nancy Pelosi on ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

Is she saying that killing babies before they can become a financial burden is now considered economic stimulus??  Seems like a pretty weak argument, my friends.

Check out the video here.

thats crap, thats code for 'pushing our agenda anyway we can' in the name of fiscal-ness.

so is contraception code for abortion? is that a more polite way to say it?

Very disheartening. They just don't get it. Makes me sad.

Actually contraception means birth control not abortion. But many family planning centers do perform abortions,

This provision would have provided federal funding for poor women to receive birth control not abortions. Medicaid only covers family planning services after a woman becomes pregnant NOT before. This is not an endorsement of the plan on my part just the facts. Check out Fox news: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/01/26/house-leaders-axe-family-planning-funds-stimulus/

Thanks for the link, Maria, I'm thrilled they're trying to get medicaid to pay for true before pregnancy "prevention" and i wish this was just about birth control pills. But it also comes on the heels of obama reversing the 'Global Gag rule" so now our US dollars can fund abortions internationally as well.

It's a liberal agenda for a very liberal president. I shouldn't expect anything else.

P.s. The proposal has now been removed from the economic stimulus package as was re-sodding the national mall.

Huh???? I'm confused. I guess I'll have to go look all this up. But yes, pre-pregnancy prevention is a must, of course. There is so much talk about abortion (rightly so), but I hardly hear people as passionate about helping to keep the pregnancy from happening in the first place. To me abortion is the (unfortunate) result of a long string of other problems that aren't always addressed.

That disgusts me. But I do agree with Maria.

Crazy Lady makes a good point...that just may be their polite way of saying it. It just makes them feel better about what they are agreeing to.

Evil people like to 'twist' their words around.
