skin care,

oh, skin care.  my rapidly-aging face demands really great skin care.  I used Keihl's before I found Arbonne, {yes, the icky multi-level business plan makes me cringe, but it was heaven to my parched crows feet.}

But, a few weeks ago I ran out of all things Arbonne and just couldn't bring myself to spend the $150.00 plus shipping to get it to my house.  I know, that's too much money for 3 products that don't last very long.  It's a recession, people!  Commercials have been few and far between round these parts....and don't even ask about features.  ha ha.

Anyway, when i couldn't pump any more day creme  from the arbonne pump i unscrewed the top and found that there was a ton of creamy product left, it just couldn't get up that skinny straw to be pumped into my eager hand.  So, i got out q-tips and started digging, which lasted a few extra days but then it hit me what a horrible design the PUMP is for creamy face stuff! Creme needs a pot, jar or a tube, not a pump, period!  oh, then i felt dupped, no wonder it didn't last very long, and that made me mad.

So, i began the search to find something new, a replacement for product i used to love and now hate.   Jessica mentioned in casual conversation, Hope in a jar.  She uses it and loves it. I got on Sephora.com and found that it's made by Philosophy {awesome} and they have a starter kit called, "Make-up Optional" for Dry/Sensitive skin. {which i have.}  They also have one for congested skin which is another word for oily/combination, i assume. But they idea is they transform your skin so that make up is optional.  I know, big promise.

So, i ran down to sephora and grabbed me a box because, guess what, all 4 full-sized products came to the exact same price as the Arbonne night creme ALONE with shipping.  Boo-yah!  It also comes with 3 microderm peel samples, which they suggest to do weekly.

The best part is that it appears to work after just a few days.  love it.  Not sure i'll be flying totally make up free anytime soon, but I feel hydrated and those dang crows feet seem to be at bay.

p.s. they all come in pots and tubes or bottles...no pumps.

Thanks for sharing! I'm almost out of Arbonne and like you can't bring myself to order again--what's up with that new yearly $15.00 renewal fee? I have been scoping out Costco Borgeise or whatever it is and for everything it runs about $65.00 so I think I'll try the Philosophy next.

Congrats on the pregnancy too!

You know, seriously, not to sound like I'm kissing up or anything, but even Paul said the same thing....but we've been thinking you've been looking younger these days. Must be that awesome skin care. And I've heard good things about Philosophy. I bought their mineral foundation once and really liked it. Let me know if the skin care holds up to it's promises.

And I TOTALLY agree about the pump thing. I HATE pumps. Even for regular ole' body lotion. It robs you.

Thank you so much! I have been out of my Arbonne for a little while now and want something that works well and like you couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on it. I will have to Philosophy. I am with you on the pump thing. It always drove me nuts with the face lotion.

Sara, you should totally go get the Hope in a jar kit then. It's 78 bucks for all 4!

My sister uses the Costco Borgeise and likes it but this stuff is good.

And amber, you are my favorite person right now...and Paul, too.

Thanks, Emily. I was in the same boat as you. I finished my Arbonne stuff awhile ago and have been trying different things since, but nothing that I've been in love with, so guess what I'm going to try next? Guess I better make a pit stop at Sephora. Thanks for the tip!

is this post just for me. i'm taking the hint. off to the store....maybe. i've never spent more than 15 bucks on any face stuff. my adult life is a recession, the times have not changed for me.

Well, too bad you didn't call me before this because I have the Purity Face Wash and it made me break out - I know this can happen sometimes at first, but I used it at least a month. I have a ton.... anyone want to borrow? Also, I can't stand the smell of Hope in a Jar. I know it's an Oprah's Favorite Things and all... but the smell gets me. You could have that one too. I need something even more recession friendly too. I'm thinking Target???? Even though I love my fancy products. Good luck. My sister loves Philosophy, too.

Beth, I know Rachel uses Oil of Olay and she likes that. Maybe you can give that a try.
