Doug the builder, can he fix it?!?

(Oh, wow. We haven't watched Bob the Builder in a very, very long time)

Remember when i was looking for a dresser for Penny and Owen's room?  Well, i refused to buy another ikea dresser (we've owned about 20 of them) then I went to this local guy that refurnishes old vintage-y pieces, and there was some amazing stuff but i knew if I brought that home doug would say, "i can build that."  

So, since Doug had a slow work week last week,  he decided to do just that.  He found a table saw on Craigslist and that just opened up a whole new world of building for him.  

Here's the final product, all customized with dividers and everything. He also found a spray gun on craigslist (I really heart craigslist.)

 

I absolutely love it!  The only sad part is that it's now all hidden away in the kids closet. 

Tilda Swinton is my Oscar winner.

Because she's the only one who wore something that I could wear to the Oscars.  Way to rock the modest dress. Although, i would have picked a different color for the top and added a bra, for sure.

Haven't seen Benjamin Button (or many of the other oscar films for that matter, blame it on the mama's girl) but i thought Taraji Henson looked stunning last night. 

Oh, Poor Lisa Rinna.  I had to add her just because of the train wreck element happening on her face.

What do you do to celebrate Friday?

Today is video game day for Owen.  Free Friday, a day where you get to do whatever you want after school.  Owen always chooses video games.  

But yesterday we were at the doctor for an ear infection so today he's home letting the anitbiotics kick in, so in his mind he should be able to play games ALL day, after all it is free friday. 

I told him he had to wait until 2pm to play and that rest of the day was for building and coloring and playing and whatever. So since 9:45 this morning he's doing the count down.  

"mom, it's 10:14.  How many hours now?"

I think it's going to be a long day.

Valentine's Comes Early at our House

Mainly because I'm meeting my sister in Vegas tomorrow with the kids so we're all going to be apart. Wanna see what we got for Sophie, Owen and Penny this year?

Hello there #4!!

Pics from a friends Hawaiian-themed shower a few weeks ago.

HD Photobooth rocks. It was a great shower and we had a good time taking pics of ourselves. We look like amateurs compared to some of the ladies at this party, they're serious pros.

Random notes, observations and happenings

• Penny's 7th tooth came in the same week Owen's 7th fell out. 
• Owen fills the whole bathtub. Head at one end, feet at the other.
• Sophie's team just lost their first game.  They won six in a row in a lower division and then went up against the best in the upper division.  26-9 (usually that score is reversed.)
• To ease the pain, Doug bought sophie a few california rolls. One of them had albacore laid across the top and a little on the inside.   It looked something like this.  {except I think this is salmon, but you get the idea.} 

• So, they came home with sushi not knowing that I made lasagna while they were at the game. Owen wanted a cupcake but i told him he had to eat dinner first and then i gave him the choice. My lasagna or the sushi.  He took the sushi!!!  It was fun to watch because even though he wants to like it, he's never been able to eat it before.  But tonight, after spitting out the seaweed paper, he ate the albacore and everything else along with it.  ha ha.  I was only a little offended he chose raw fish over my fresh baked lasagna. 

• And lastly,  did i tell you, PENNY IS WALKING!?!?  i'm working on getting the video up, it's super cute.  She took her very first steps the day after christmas but wasn't really into it until Grandpa Charlie's birthday.  That day she started pulling away from everything she was standing next to and took off.  ah, that girl.

Today was an official Holiday

For us anyway. It was Washington's Birthday and we had no school so we spent the day cleaning and looking for a dresser for the kids room.

Penny and i went on a walk this morning and about 5 minutes after we got home it began raining and rained pretty much all day long. It hailed at one point and Sophie changed the words to the Taylor Swift song, "Tear Drops on My Guitar" to "Hail Chunks on My New Car" or something like that. We also made some Banana Blueberry Muffins because it was a muffin kind of morning.

sick computer back home

I've been without my laptop all week.  She was at the Apple hospital addressing a few minor ailments and boy, did i miss her.  Yesterday a fed ex guy on a white horse with a shiny sword brought her home.  What a sweet reunion. 

So, even though my blog has been pretty lame thus far in 09, i am recommitted to recording the details of my family.  If i don't, I risk having a Chamberlain Family 09 Pamphlet (instead of a blog book) in December. ugh. 

So, here we go.  Watch out next week for DAILY posts on our goings on.  Ok, maybe every other day, but they are going to be good, trust me.
